This is the 100 inch dome at Mt. Wilson. It contains the 100 inch telescope with which Edwin Hubble first discovered that the universe was expanding. Albert Einstein once visisted Hubble at Mt. Wilson to see for himself. The view is to the northeast.


Here is another shot to the north. You can see the two smaller Chara domes and the connecting pipe. Chara is the largest interferometer in the world. It is operated by the Astronomy and Physics department at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA
